Elizabeth Schirmer, VP of Sales and Marketing, was recognized today as one of the Rochester Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” for her work both in her career and in public service.
With nominations from the community and selections by a committee of business leaders, the Forty Under 40 awards recognize 40 men and women under the age of 40 who have achieved professional success and made significant civic contributions to our community. Hundreds of people are nominated, and only the best of the best are recognized.
“I’m honored to receive this award alongside so many talented executives and the Sweetwater leaders who have won this award before me,” says Schirmer. “I am so grateful that Sweetwater encourages its employees to support the communities we serve and has given me the chance to launch a non-profit organization while contributing to our company’s continued success.”
In addition to her role at Sweetwater, Schirmer is the co-founder and CEO of Untapped Shores International, a not-for-profit organization that equips entrepreneurial women and orphans around the world with life-saving water and sanitation technologies. The equipment is brought to these people in need by business and leisure travelers, who can fit the devices in their luggage and help install the technology as part of their trips.
She is on the Board of Directors of the Greater Rochester Women’s Council, is a Compeer Little Sister Mentor, and an RYT-200 certified yoga instructor, teaching therapeutic yoga to children in Africa.
Schirmer is the fifth Forty Under 40 recipient from Sweetwater. Previous honorees include Arunas Chesonis, Ron Boillat, Jack Baron, Keith Wilson, and Al Chesonis.
