Sweetwater Energy, Inc., a Rochester-based renewable energy company, announced today it has named Karl Doenges as Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Business Development.
Mr. Doenges, who has worked in government affairs and throughout the downstream biofuels industry—including marketing, logistics, and sales—will lead Sweetwater’s marketing efforts as well as manage the company’s government relations. He currently resides in Austin, Texas.
“Anyone who knows Karl knows what a wealth of knowledge and a dynamic personality he has,” said Arunas Chesonis, CEO of Sweetwater. “We wanted a presence in the rich biofuels and biochemical arena of Texas, and we were fortunate to find Karl in Austin. With Karl we’re gaining key expertise in the biofuels industry and with all the government regulations that surround biofuels. We are very pleased to bring him on board.”
Mr. Doenges was formerly Chief Strategy and Development Officer for Protec Fuels, President of CleanFUEL Distribution, Vice President of Business Development for CleanFUEL USA, and Executive Director of Global Marketing for Wagner & Brown, Ltd., an independent oil and gas firm, focused on their alternative fuel efforts. Mr. Doenges also worked in the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the White House to help American companies to export alternative fuel technologies.
Mr. Doenges is a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce District Export Council and has been used as an industry resource for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and other federal agencies for policy analysis and white papers.
Mr. Doenges earned a B.B.A. in International Business from the University of Texas at Austin, and a law degree and M.B.A. from Texas Tech University.
