Sweetwater Energy Opens New Facility and Offices

Sweetwater Energy, Inc., a Rochester-based renewable energy company, is moving into its new location at 500 Lee Road, in Rochester, NY.

The new headquarters will house offices for Sweetwater’s 12 current employees with room for significant expansion, as well as industrial space for Sweetwater’s laboratory and for its pilot and demo facilities, currently under construction.

Ron Boillat, Sweetwater’s Chief Deployment Officer, is currently overseeing the company’s transition from its incubator headquarters in the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Venture Creations business incubator.

“Sweetwater is moving past the start-up stage and we need room to grow,” said Mr. Boillat. “The new building will give us enough office space to accommodate many more employees, and just as important, it also has the perfect area for Sweetwater’s new laboratory and the pilot and demo sugar processors.”

Sweetwater will occupy 15,000 square feet at the new location; 5,000 for offices and 10,000 for the laboratory and facilities.

Sweetwater Energy uses a unique technology for producing low-cost nanofibrillated cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, sugars, and clean lignin from non-food plant materials to help meet the modern world's increasing bioenergy and biochemical demands.
